Who is your choice for Staten Island's most dominant bowler playing the game today?

I can't just throw one name out there to start the discussion but I will say this: my top pick is Tim McAuliffe Jr. for his top finishes in the top tourneys on SI, including the SI Masters. Real close second is Big Dan Dunleavy, who is tough as nails wherever he bowls. Some may mention Ryan Friend, Sean McAuliffe, Lets here it? How about Vinny D'ambrosio III he may get my vote!!!

It's hard to just pick one, there is so much talent out there now. I'd like to see a return of the old SI Masters League with these guys in it...

It's tough to tell who the best is nowadays because there aren't enough tournaments or scratch leagues to decide on Staten Island. Very good topic though. Should be interesting to see who people name. Without including myself I would say Tim McAuliffe, Vinny D'Ambrosio, Sean McAuliffe, Ryan Friend and Jeff Scire.

Dan Dun and louis Gaudio are my picks on the right. Vinny on the left. The difference is that these guys can bowl on any condition and dominate.

Both Mcauliffe brothers, Vinny D, Ryan Friend and Dan Dunleavy. I would include Jeff Scire also in this group.

I agree with all names list and honored for the mention. Not sure if he is bowling in Staten Island anymore but Lou Gaudio is always in the mix. He beat both me and my brother in the NJ Masters this year at Strathmore lanes. Not easy to beat both of us in the same day . I agree with Dan there aren't enough challenges on Staten Island to really see who is best of the best. Chico, maybe the SI HOF should run a summer scratch tournament. 1 day event 64 or 32 man matchplay bracket. 3 games qualifier for seeding. Then 2 games total wood match until we have a winner. Dan ran one in the draft league over a 2 week span and it was pretty successful. Any flat pattern between 37ft to 42ft will minimize scoring big time and see who can repeat shots, doesn't have to be a heavy oil condition. Flat patterns separate the house bowlers from the shot makers.

Sean, I had mentioned that to Rab a number of years ago, to have an end of season invitational tournament, along the lines of what you said. He told me it would be very difficult to line up sponsors, so it never got off the ground....

Sean it's funny that you bring up holding a tournament bracket style. I was talking with Joe LaBargo just yesterday about doing that format. Rob Cammarda just held one at Showplace this past Sat. which was won by HOF Bob Sach. I will be looking to hold one on a Sunday afternoon , one which will not conflict with other tourneys. I will do a double elimination bracket with MAYBE a long flat pattern to keep scoring pace moderate!!! I would like to hear some feedback on this?

Yes I wanted to bowl that but I was in EL Paso this past weekend for the USBCs.
I think a 2 game qualifier to establish seeding then 2 games total wood for each match would be better than double elimination. You wont have to worry about a winner / loser bracket and I think everything would run smooth. Either way I'm in if you run it.
